You finally got your visa and are ready to work in Israel — but now you’re wondering how to actually find a job? We feel you!

Getting your first job in Israel might take longer than expected, but it’s absolutely possible. That’s why we recently hosted a workshop with Laia, one of our amazing Mixed Neshamot, who generously shared her insights and experience. Today, we’re passing those tips on to you to help you navigate your Israeli job hunt. Let’s dive in!

Starting Off the Search

Looking for a job is basically a full-time job itself. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:

  • Research the Market: Understand the current demand in your field. You might discover the need to improve your English, take specialized courses, or even shift industries.

  • Know the Players: Look up relevant companies in your industry, especially those hiring international talent or operating in English-speaking environments.

  • Invest in Networking: Israel’s job market thrives on connections. Attend networking events through platforms like MeetUp, Eventbrite, and MadeInJerusalem. Don’t be afraid to reach out!

  • Stay Patient: It’s okay if it takes time. Many of us have been there. Your skills are valuable — you just need to find the right fit.

Where to Look for a Job

While personal connections often lead to job offers, there are plenty of online platforms to get started:

Polishing Your CV — Part I

Make sure your resume is updated and tailored for the Israeli market:

  • Personal info: full name, location, Israeli cell phone number, email, and LinkedIn link.

  • Start with a short objective statement that shows who you are and what you’re looking for.

  • Add a skills section: clean, concise bullet points that highlight your strengths.

Polishing Your CV — Part II

  • Tailor your CV for each job you apply for — highlight the most relevant skills and experiences.

  • Include professional experience in reverse chronological order.

  • Finish with your education and certifications.
