Are you an Israeli bringing your foreign partner to live with you in Israel? This guide is for you!

Our Navigating Life in Israel blogs usually focus on helping Neshamot settle in, but this time, our Israeli partners are joining forces to share their experiences and insights on how they prepared for their loved ones' arrival.

Where to Live?

You probably already have a place, but if possible, consider the following:

  • Close to Public Transportation – This allows her to explore the city and meet friends independently.

  • Nearby Stores & Malls – Check for supermarkets that sell her favorite local snacks and ingredients.

  • International Vibe – Living in an area where people speak English (or her native language) can make a big difference.

Preparing for Her Arrival

Make the transition smoother by having these ready:

  • Israeli SIM Card – Easy communication is key.

  • Extra Credit on Your Card – She may need to use it until she sets up her finances.

  • Trips & Exploration – Plan outings to introduce her to Israel while she adjusts.

  • Job Opportunities – Research international-friendly workplaces or courses she can start.

  • Confidence & Support – Your Neshama needs to feel secure and empowered in her new country.

Appointments to Make (Once She Has the B1 Visa)

Once she’s settled, help her set up these essentials:

  • Bank Appointment – To open an account and get a local debit/credit card.

  • Ministry of Transportation – If she needs to validate her driver’s license.

  • Health Insurance – Foreign citizens need private health coverage until they qualify for national insurance.

  • Landlord Meeting – Add her name to your lease contract.

  • A Special Date – Celebrate this milestone in your journey together!

What to Expect & How to Support Her

Adjusting to a new country can be overwhelming. There will be days when she misses home, struggles with Hebrew, or feels frustrated with Israeli bureaucracy. Here’s how you can help:

  • Provide Support – Be patient, reassuring, and understanding.

  • Create Routine & Stability – A structured daily life will help her integrate smoothly.
