Changing Your Address & Moving Your Partner Visa Folder

Moving homes in Israel is always a big adventure — new neighbors, new favorite cafés, new bus routes to figure out. But if you’re here on a partner visa (B1 or A5), there’s one extra step: updating your address and making sure your visa folder follows you to your new Misrad HaPnim branch.

Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to do it, step by step:

Step 1: Changing Your Address

Unlike Israelis who can just click a few buttons online, we visa holders need our partners to help with this part.

Options:

  • Online (easiest): Your Israeli partner can update your address through their Teudat Zehut smart ID on Gov.il.

  • In person: You both go together to your Misrad HaPnim branch.

What to bring:

  • Teudat Zehut of your Israeli partner

  • Your passport + visa page

  • Proof of your new address (lease contract, arnona bill — best if both names are listed)

Step 2: Moving Your Folder (תיק זוגיות)

Your partner visa file is like your “immigration home base” at Misrad HaPnim. When you move, it doesn’t magically move with you — you have to request it.

How to do it:

  • Write an email to your old branch and CC your new branch.

  • Attach:

    • Copy of your partner’s Teudat Zehut

    • Copy of your passport & current visa

    • Proof of new address

  • Ask for confirmation that your folder has been transferred.

 Neshamot Tips

  • Don’t wait until your next visa appointment — transfer your file as soon as you move.

  • Always keep digital copies of everything. Trust us, it makes follow-ups so much easier.

  • The transfer can take time, so don’t panic if you don’t hear back right away. A gentle follow-up email usually helps.

  • Try to go together with your partner whenever possible — it really smooths the process.
